1. La Fez Café & Bakery

A treat for the senses, La Fez combines Moroccan architecture and cuisine in one gorgeous setting. The wellness café and bakery in Siglap attracts patrons with an exterior that’s reminiscent of Marrakesh where the buildings are tinted in natural red clay, giving its name ‘Rose City’. The windows are also shaped in the iconic horseshoe arch. Inside, it’s covered in the same rosy hue with splashes of gold, and is fitted with rattan furniture, as well as leafy plants to add to the Mediterranean charm.

Expect a Moroccan-inspired menu, no less, with dishes like Maghreb Baghrir Pancakes ($17.90), Oven-baked Barrammundi ($36.90) and Tyma Chicken Tagine ($26.90) which is cooked in traditional Moroccan earthenware for that rich, earthy flavour and aroma.

With an attention-grabbing hot pink façade, this three-story dessert cafe is a gaudy knockout in Bugis. The pink wonderland keeps it basic on the first floor, but the second and third floors are where the party’s at. Find a giant ball pit set against a soft grey wall decked with pink letters and gift boxes on the second floor before heading upstairs for a princessy pink paradise complete with pastel pink walls, chairs and decor. Those with a sweet tooth will appreciate its menu which includes soufflé (from $12.90), Korean bingsu (from $16.90), and bubble tea (from $5.90).

Inspired by the easy-breezy Melbournian cafés you find at every corner of Flinders, Bearded Bella’s decor is simple and charming. Pastel pink walls, potted plants and a chic shophouse facade make it one for the ‘gram. Menu offerings include braised beef cheeks (from $24) and cold crab pasta (from $20), while its coffee is made from beans roasted in-house by its owner – who just so happens to be an award-winning barista. Its cold brew (from $12) even comes in a hip flask that you can take home.

The Flour Department embraces pink by splashing its walls, countertops, and even its takeout boxes with the pretty colour. This unique café changes up its menu every week, offering innovative fusion bakes such as a bagel sandwich with Japanese curry potato, chicken katsu, and cheesy scrambled eggs ($15), and a lychee rose pistachio cake tart ($12.80) where you can see a beautiful cross-section of all the layers. Be sure to preorder your favourite bakes to avoid disappointment when visiting the café.

Beauty in the Pot at KINEX offers the best of both worlds: an irresistibly modish interior and sumptuous cuisine.
