Hidden behind a glowing red ‘Psychic’ sign on Amoy Street, Employees Only (EO) – yes, the legendary import from New York City – takes you back to the Prohibition days of the US, but with unmatched energy and vibes. It’s the last stop for many after a night of bar-hopping, and for good reason.
The vibe
Velvet drapes, moody lighting, and a sense of mystery set the scene – but don’t expect it to stay quiet for long. Led by Igor Hadzismajlovic, one of the five founding partners of Employees Only New York, the EO team here has an infectious energy. The bar team demonstrates a showy free-pouring style that EO is famed for, and they easily and charmingly engage after-work revellers even while banging out drink after drink. Swing by even on a Tuesday night and you’ll find the bar thronging.
The drink
The vibrant atmosphere is one thing, but EO has consistently strong tipples to back it up. It’s a regular on the Asia’s 50 Best Bars list, with it most recently charting at No.89 in 2025’s rankings. Sip your way through EO’s award-winning menu, from locally inspired cocktails to beloved classics straight from its NYC playbook. Regulars keep coming back for signatures like the Fraise Sauvage ($25), a gin-based tipple made with wild strawberries, vanilla and prosecco, and Ready Aim Fire ($25), a doozy made with mezcal, lime juice, honey-pineapple syrup, and bitters.
The food
To go with your drinks, an order of the hand-cut steak tartare ($29) is a must. For an Asian twist, go for the EO ‘Ramly’ Burger ($28) or Tom Kha Mussels ($32). And if you stay on till late enough, the kitchen slings out an all-time fave to bid you adieu: a comforting bowl of chicken soup.
