Rooftop bars and infinity pools are aplenty in Singapore but our city is also home to many sprawling rooftop playgrounds that are a hit among kids with energy to burn (and parents seeking reprieve). Head to one of these spaces during your next family outing because they assuredly take the fun to the next level.
RECOMMENDED: The best free playgrounds in Singapore and the best water parks in Singapore
1. Westgate Wonderland

Here’s where to bring your kids if you need them out of your hair while you shop. The largest rooftop mall playground in Singapore – yes, it’s a thing – bears a ‘fantasy garden’ theme, and is split into two sections. Children aged five and above can terrorise the dry play area, which is home to all manners of slides, rock walls and interactive installations. There’s also a 10-metre high treehouse. And if you have toddlers, they can roll around the mini water park – it gets awfully crowded on weekends, so you might want to rethink leaving them unsupervised then.
2. Splash N Surf

Complete with sprinklers, water pistols and a lazy river, Splash N Surf is the place for some playful aquatic action with your tots. While the water play area is only open to kids, the lazy pool caters to both adults and children. You and your kiddo can also learn to half-pipe surf at the Stingray and master riding on the boogie board.
3. KidzPlay @ SkyGarden

There’s plenty of room for kids (and the young at heart) to run around on the spongy, wave-print turf of Nex’s Skygarden. Home to an eclectic spread of installations like mist machines and a massive centrepiece bucket that creates a torrential waterfall when it tips over, kids tend to lose track of time at this fun-filled rooftop play area.
4. Happy Park

Overlooking Punggol Waterway park, this playground has both wet and dry play areas for the kids to hop between, so they won’t remain soaked all day. Keep an eye out for your young ones as they take on challenging aquatic obstacle courses or simply let them slide down the child-friendly rubber surfaces of the playground’s terraced landscape.
5. The 3 House

This outdoor water playground is dominated by bright red giant mushroom and two tall flowers spitting out arcs of water on the kids below. There’s also an ankle-deep pool with swings suspended over it and a child-friendly ropes course which is the driest part of the playing field.
6. VivoCity

You may need a map to navigate your way around VivoCity, but one thing’s for sure: this sprawling mall has everything under one roof. Cool down at the rooftop mini water playground where the little ones can try paddling boats in the knee-deep pool ($8/10 minutes or $10/$15 minutes). If you need to keep the ’em busy yet dry, sign them up for some kid-friendly activities on levels 2 and 3.
7. Jem

In the wild west, kids can have their fun at Jem’s rooftop playground which features both dry and wet play areas. Let the kids run wild on the netted playground, trampoline floors and swinging hammocks. Alternatively, beat the heat at its mini pool where water rains down from the top or at the mini fountains dotted around.
8. The Seletar Mall

Let the kids burn some energy at The Seletar Mall which is the closest shopping centre to Seletar Aerospace Park. Head for the rooftop where your adventurous tykes get channel their inner Spidey on climbing nets, a seesaw and hammock swings.
