Violet Oon Singapore (formerly Violet Oon’s Kitchen)

After three years holding the Peranakan fort in Bukit Timah, Violet Oon and her two children, Tay Yiming and Tay Su-Lyn, partner with TWG Tea founder Manoj Murjani to give the restaurant an update.

To start with, they’ve dropped the cosier sounding ‘Kitchen’ moniker in favour of a more ambitious Violet Oon Singapore, in line with their future plans for international expansion. The visual harks even more of Oon’s heritage with hundreds of authentic Peranakan tiles covering the walls of the restaurant. Oon’s cooking also refocusses on the Nyonya cooking she’s honed throughout the years, with Hokkien, Malay, Hainanese, Indian and Eurasian influences also showing up in her all day, Singapore breakfast and Nyonya high tea menus.

The revamp also includes a show kitchen space, which will play host to a range of workshops and private dining gatherings for up to 12 diners.
