Mexican-inspired dining has hit the feasting streets of the east. Lower East Side Taqueria is the first of its kind in the area plating out a wide variety of Mexican grub with a diverse selection of drinks. Start with spicy chicken drumlets before you taste the signature Chili Con Carne taco ($15), a combination of beef, beans and cilantro rice in sour cream. Have braised pork belly, ancho paste and cheddar cheese in a quesadilla ($11) or a contrasting mix of squid, guacamole and green apples in a burrito ($15), all available in five increasing levels of spice from mild to Scoville-topping. Then, soothe the picante aftertaste with an order of tipple, coffee or soda. Don’t miss the homemade Horchata ($6) – a classic chilled Mexican drink made from rice milk, almonds and cinnamon. Drop by after 10pm for supper sets going at $10, or come down during the Fiesta Hour (weekdays before 8pm) for pints of draft beer going for the same price.
