Kitchen by Food Rebel

Kitchen by Food Rebel

The CBD sees yet another #eatclean café pop up in the neighbourhood, except this one is specially tailored for those who have food intolerances or are just fussy with their food. Day-to-day operations are run by head chef Yuliya Tyschenko and overseen by owner and health coach Elika Mather. Kitchen offers local and organic produce – and it doesn’t just serve up salads ($12-$17) to be ‘healthy’.

The menu is similiar to what you’d find in a health café in Melbourne or San Francisco but with the addition of local flavours. Sandwiches ($14-$18) filled with chilli padi chicken and slow-roasted beef can be tailored to your taste buds with add-ons like sweet potato, pumpkin, avocado and, for the clean-eating gym rats, more meat ($2-$6.50). For ‘dirty’ healthy food, try the rebel pie, which is minced meat on sweet potato mash ($18), and Kitchen’s version of a chicken burger with a side of sweet potato fries ($21). Breakfast options such as acai bowls and overnight oats ($6-$15), tea and coffee ($5-$6.50), as well as smoothies made with coconut water ($9) are also on offer.
